Hi everyone my name is Tony and I am a RiderCoach in NJ. I have been riding about 10 years and a RiderCoach for the last 4 years. Over the years I have seen my share of deer while riding. Yesterday morning I saw one up close and personal. I was riding home from work at 3:30 AM when a large buck jumped out in front of me. I was riding my "brand new" 2007 Yamaha Roadstar Midnight Silverado, which has 1300 miles on it (I picked it up about 3 weeks ago). I hit it broadside at 45 - 50 mph. I was wearing a Tourmaster Pivot jacket and all the rest of my gear (gloves, boots, and of course my helmet). My jacket has a few holes in it and is melted in a couple of places, I actually remember feeling the armor in the elbows as I slid along the road. Miraculously I suffered no broken bones or substantial injuries. The good lord was certainly watching out for me. I am pretty sore of course but grateful to be alive considering all the alternatives that were possible. I was wearing a half helmet, which was scraped up a bit, it did its job though, and I and glad it did. To those of you who ride in tee shirts, shorts, and any other apparel that does not meet MSF recommended standards I say to you that I am alive today because I was wearing mine. Can you post pictures of your helmet and riding gear for others to see? I'd like to see the impact areas and damage.

Thank God you're alright. Sorry about your new bike! It's good reinforcement to know that even the mc instructors can get into those unfortunate situations and to always ride with all your gears all the time.

Glad all turned out ok for you!! It's a shame the good lord wasn't watching out for the deer as well!
