Hello all -
I'm looking at some sales that local stores are having of warm-weather mesh pants with CE armor in them, and I'm wondering if anyone has some hints/tips to share about using these in hot weather?
I specifically want to use these as overpants with shorts in the summer. I already have Draggin' Jeans with CE armor, but I can't wear shorts underneath, and I want to commute to school, etc, take these off in the parking lot and be done with it :)

Thanks!

Here's my 2cents worth:
I have an Olympia MotoSports riding suit (jacket and pants). I bought them because they are cordura nylon mesh with liners and armor. In the summer, I have worn shorts underneath the pants and was very comfortable (like you, I wanted to be able to unzip my pants and be done with it...lol). I like the fact that the mesh allows great ventilation and the cordura and armor add great protection. Of course, this is my personal perference. But if you haven't tried an Olympia MotoSports riding jacket or pants, I woudl highly recommend trying them if you can find them nearby (here, the only place that sells them is the BMW dealer). I hope this information helps!

Many times wearing mesh gear will actually keep you cooler than being exposed to the sun and prevent some of the dehydration from the wind that can occur during hotter temps. Anything you wear to protect yourself is better than riding in shorts.
And biker girls taking their pants off in the parking lot? Very sexy! (Pardon me for that.)
If you want to store your jacket and pants on the bike instead of carrying them around, or if you don't have lockable luggage, run a cable lock through both arms/sleeves and through the pants legs and lock then up onto the bike 'till you return.

Harley, and I'm sure other manufacturers have a hydration vest.
Soak it for about 10 minutes before heading out and put it on under your jacket or vest or whatever you have on, and it will act as a poor man's A/C without getting your clothes wet.

Nothing can substitute for a bottle or 2 of water though.
Hydration is a MUST at all costs.

There is a rule of thumb:
If you don't have to 'go' when you stop, then you're not drinking enough.

If you are not familar with Duluth Trading Company you should take a look at their assortment of jeans and work pants. www.duluthtrading.com Though their clothes (both mens and womens) are not specifically designed for motorcycles, it is extremely durable and well made and well quite frankly my favorite riding gear. They have a line of "fire hose" jeans and work pants that come in different weights with fleece and or wool linings for cold weather and without for warm. The fire hose work pants, which are my favorite, have a great assortment of pockets and hangars perfectly suited to work well on a bike. They, also, have some Cool-Max Fire Hose pants that breath and are wicking. These are great in the hot weather and I will wear them when the temp gets over 90F. You do give up some protection but the trade-off is they are very comfortable. You can shop on line or get their catalog which is very well done and I enjoy browsing through it. I have bought a ton of their stuff and love it. Reasonably priced, high quality clothing that fits great and does the job. Hope you find this info useful.
