This is a video of about 3/4 of a lap at Thunderbolt Raceway in
southern New Jersey. I did something I always wanted to do last
summer-- went to Keith Code's "California Superbike" school. An
amazing experience. One of the exercises (there are many) is a lap
on the "video bike" so you can see yourself ride. They've put a
small videocamera on a rather tall tower fixed to the tail of the
bike so it looks over your right shoulder. I've got plenty of
faults to correct in this lap, but it's a great memory!
Nice Nice Nice. I've been thinking of doing a track day. Although
I'm a cruiser/sport tourer type of rider, it's something I've been
considering......just to see what flying around a track on at
400lb. bike is really all about. What bike exercises are taught at
the school ?
Thanks Tony. I'm more of a sport tourer kind of guy myself, but the
lessons of the track translate wonderfully to the street. There are
a number of superbike schools "out there," but I've been a fan of
Keith Code's theory of riding for quite a while. He has written a
number of worthwhile books (the "Twist of the Wrist" series). Their
website is http://www.superbikeschool.com/ which has a fairly
detailed description of the curriculum.
