Perhaps this is old news to some of you, but I think this little
gadget is about the slickest thing since sliced bread. It's a wheel
jockey. (see: www.wheeljockey.com) Most bikes don't come with
centerstands, so the only way to take care of your chain or clean
the wheels is to roll the bike forward and back. That is labor
intensive. With this little gizmo, you just roll the bike onto it
and spin the wheel by hand. Very cool!
1. Moving the stem around so you can inflate the tire
2. Checking the tire for nails and such before you ride
3. Cleaning those hard to reach spots without ripping up you hand.
I just purchased a center stand for my bike. Wish I had seen this
before, I may have tried it first. I may still go ahead and order
one for my wifes bike though. I can see how it could be useful for
the points Tony brings up.
I'll add that it is one heck of a lot cheaper than a paddock stand
and is easier to store. For that matter, a person could throw this
little thing in his saddlebag!
All: I was hoping to meet up with the people from wheeljockey at
the NYC International Motorcycle Show this coming weekend.
Unfortunately, they are not going to be attending but I have made
contact with them and they have expressed interest in doing some
type of presentation for our members....I'll let you all know when
and how I will be connecting with them! Stay tuned :)
Good point you bring up Carol. I wonder if there is any chance they
will be at the Colorado Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet at the end of
January. I should email them and ask.
Good. I heard back from the wheeljockey.com guy. He has a press
release and some other info. He doesn't have a video other than the
youtube thing that doesn't have any sound. I'll see if he will send
us one so we can do some filming. I figure I'll show it to some of
the folks in the local riding group to see what they think. I'll
let you know.
