2Wheeltips commented on Ride Like A Pro NJ's Video.RideOn, It is an excellent class and the tips provided definitely will help with controlling your bike at low speeds. If you can get your hands on the DVD or if you are close to one of the places that give the class.....definitely take it. Tony

2Wheeltips commented on Ride Like A Pro NJ's Video. The key to doing these maneuvers is the delicate balance between rear brake pressure and managing the friction zone with the throttle and clutch. Once you get the "feel" for this on your bike, you can do these drills. To be honest, the class ...

by 2Wheeltips 1 year agoI've had the chance to film quite a few of the Ride Like A Pro NJ classes and I'm always amazed by how much students learn in the class. Some think low speed handling skills are just for show.....like police rodeos and such. But they do have very real world uses.
One of them is making those very tight right turns onto side roads in heavy traffic (the type you see all the time in NJ). Before the class you had to duck walk the bike or even swing wide into the next lane. After this class making those turns is a cinch. The U-turn and offset cone weave increase your ability to maneuver in tight spaces.
The class is well worth the 5 hours....now I need to get off my butt and take it instead of filming it! :) -
by paulsgs 1 year agoI took the class 6/26 having no conception of what was going to be taught (with the exception of the clip on the website). Being a rider on/off for 40 years (I started at 15) I thought this would be a basic renewal of basic safety under various traffic conditions. I was quite surprised at all I did not know about slow speed manuevering, and, more importantly, the reminder how important the back brake is on "articulated" (thats a new word for me) vehicles. I just finished a 2000k ride thru Canada in snow, rain, off/on pavement on my 1200 GS so I thought there was not much to teach me. My colleague and I left there saturday afternoon commenting on how it was one of the best courses on riding. It is a vital component of enjoyable, efficient and safe cycling. The instructors Al and Bill were excellent, they were entertaining, proficient and great teachers that were keen to make sure each of us got it right. Who new there was a technique to such basic moves as U Turns, circles or just slow speed riding! I highly recommend this course to any level of rider.

by GoldwingRon 1 year agoThanks for the opportunity to take the class on Saturday. Although I would have liked to have done better, I was relatively satisfied with my performance. For some reason I do much better when I'm in the 'real world' It's not just for impressing other riders, but it makes life so much easier when you can control the bike with extreme precision. You guys are fantastic, and I would highly recommend all experienced riders to take the class. Thanks Bill & Al!
