Hey my '86 Virago needs some new carburetors and the mechanic told me it isn't worth fixing... well I don't believe him! Does anybody have any info on a reliable website or local parts dealer in NJ that I can get them from? I'm not giving up on this bike, it was my dad's and I grew up riding on the back of it and all I ever wanted was to ride it myself, now it's mine and its busted! NOT FAIR!

What's the matter with the carbs that you need new ones? Does the bike run at all?
Can't you remove them and clean them or at least try and run some Berryman's B12 or Seafoam through them in the gas if you think they are clogged up with gunk?

How far are you willing to travel? I know of a pretty good motorcycle mechanic in the Edison area....he might be worth consulting at the very least...let me know!

I brought it to a mechanic who said he completely took them apart and cleaned them. Honestly I am not mechanically inclined and have no idea what's wrong. The bike does run but sputters and loses power sometimes.

I was thinking there might be a hole in my fuel line but I did mention that to him and he said that isn't it. I was thinking that because when it first started we took the tank off and found a nice hole near the end of the fuel line but aren't sure if it happened when we took the tank off... we cut that part off and reattached and it worked very well for the rest of the day then started acting up again. Even though the mechanic said it isn't the fuel line I was thinking of replacing the fuel lines anyway becuase they're old and dry rotted.
