Counter steering

Just finished reading possibly the best book on cruising I ever came across. Proficient Motorcycling by David L. Hough has something for everybody from beginner to old hands. I have been riding for many decades, currently on my Triumph America, and the most eye opening section for me was the counter steering methods, which is explained in great detail. Counter steering is an intuitive and very powerful tool for cruisers and dual sports alike, and with a few hundred miles of practice my confidence level is more solid than ever before, both solo and my usual two up rides, wet or dry, highway and secondaries. Lots of other tips and a very easy read. In fact, if you read only one book this year, this one should be it, large format and loads of pictures. Don't miss it. And, if you get the chance, I also attended and completed the Ride Like a Pro course, and outstanding way to learn just how to make your cruiser, bagger or any bike do things that you will simply not believe. Solid confidence builder, two thumbs up.

I just got the RLAP series and book today.
Looking forward to going through it all and putting some of the techniques into better practice.
Unfortuantely, they aren't offered this far north, but it hasn't been for lack of trying.
Will check out the Hough's book too.

The day you quit learning is the day you better pack it in.

I am definately going to check out the book you recommended! Last weekend I took the course "How to ride like a motor officer". Very similar to the Ride Like a Pro course. Definate confidence booster! I never would have imagined I could ride a motorcycle like that. The techniques are priceless! Everyone should take a course like this. Its sad to know it is not available in all parts.
