Yesterday I went out to get a pair of winter riding pants. Since I'm doing the polar bear thing this year, I figured I better go out and get a pair before the first ride.

Well, I went over to the local motorcycle store to see what was available. I just could not bring myself to pay over $200.00 for a pair of pants. I decided to go over to the local sporting goods store to see what they had and found a very good solution!!

I got a pair of snowboarding pants!! Since it is a new sport, not many people know that snowboarders need similar protection from the cold that motorcyclist need. The pants are:

1. Waterproof
2. Windproof
3. Big and roomy
4. Lots of pockets
5. Abrasion resistant
6. Insulated, padded and very warm
7. Cuffed and snug at the ankle

Can be folded up and put in a saddle bag or backpack And the kicker is they cost $50.00 dollars. I will use them this weekend and will let everyone know how they work.

Polar Bear Run....when I was in Korea it was cold and the group had a Polar Bear Run and I wanted to go, but I knew that I had problems keeping my hands warm. I was afraid to get started in the run and have to stop and not be able to keep up because of my hands. Plus, I did not know my way around in Korea and did not want to get separated from the group---I sure would have been lost forever. I read and tried several things to keep my hands warm but could not, and then the rest of the body started getting cold. Let Korea and moved to Hawaii and did not need heated gear. Later moved from Hawaii to Michigan and it gets freezing cold here and I purchased the Gerbin Heated Suite (pants liner, jacket liner, gloves, and just later the sole for the boots). I must say, I wished I had those items when I was riding in Korea, I could have done the Polar Run and any other run during the winter and stayed warm. Getting ready to ride to Key West, FL in August (guess what, I am taking my heated gear with me). I have taken several rides and the heated gear came in handy....especially on cold raining days with the wind blowing.... '

When I look at the amount of $$$$$$$$ that I spent on trying to stay warm---it would have been cheaper the first go around to purchase the heated clothing.
